SCDHHS reintroduces in-person Medicaid training to meet evolving healthcare needs in South Carolina

Columbia, South Carolina – Inviting medical professionals and billing agents to attend a series of workshops meant to improve their practice operations and simplify Medicaid processes, South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) opens its latest round of Healthy Connections Medicaid training seminars. Set to start in November 2024 and last through January 2025, these in-person meetings offer a comprehensive knowledge of Medicaid procedures for providers around South Carolina.

SCDHHS has shifted away from its past virtual-only training sessions and is getting back to in-person seminars at the BlueCross BlueShield South Carolina-Government Programs Complex in Columbia in response to changing healthcare demands and a dedication to clarity in Medicaid-related operations.

Covering a broad spectrum of Medicaid-related issues, these seminars guarantee providers and staff members may receive the most recent guidelines on eligibility, claims, third-party responsibility, and much more. Healthy Connections Medicaid providers can access these free of charge sessions, which are designed to fit different roles and degrees of experience in medical offices.

Workshops to empower providers with essential Medicaid knowledge

Healthy Connections Medicaid’s training series begins with “Medicaid Basics,” a comprehensive session that delves into the fundamentals of the Healthy Connections program. Planned for November 6, December 9, and January 7, this all-day sessions (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) covers basic subjects including eligibility requirements, claim filing procedures, and third-party liability (TPL) policies. Specifically helpful for younger doctors and staff members or anybody requiring an update, this program offers providers a strong grasp of Medicaid’s basics.

The “Comprehensive Web Tool” training, after “Medicaid Basics,” will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. November 12, December 10, and January 15. Focusing on the South Carolina Medicaid web tool, an essential instrument for claim submission and status tracking, this program examines the digital side of Medicaid management.

Attendees will receive guidelines for verifying eligibility and using e-remits for quick transactions, thereby learning how to use this tool efficiently. This seminars serve those looking to maximize their usage of the digital claims environment, which is becoming ever more important for Medicaid operations.

Healthy Connections Medicaid will run the “Overview of Claim-level Adjustments and TPL” workshop on November 21, December 17, and January 22. Designed for providers handling third-party liability obligations and claim-level modifications, this program runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will have thorough understanding of TPL reporting, refund procedures, claim adjudication. This training is meant to guarantee providers have a complete awareness of the several resources available to them, allowing for effective resolution of edit errors and exact management of claims requiring adjustment, considering the additional complexity of TPL and claim adjustments.

Managed care enrollment training for providers

The “Maximus Managed Care Enrollment” class is yet another vital component of the Healthy Connections training schedule. Presented virtually by webinar or phone, this session runs November 8, November 22, December 13, December 18, January 10, and January 24 with alternate time periods from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 2 to 3:30 p.m. Specifically for Healthy Connections Medicaid and Healthy Connections Prime, this training focuses on guiding providers over South Carolina’s Medicaid managed care enrollment process.

Participants will learn how to help patients choose a suitable physician and health plan as well as how to lead them through the enrollment process via the use of the enrollment broker website (scchoices.com). For office personnel helping with Medicaid applications, this session is precious since it offers knowledge on how to properly keep Medicaid members and handle continuous patient support.

Providers and billing agents are encouraged to register for any of these seminars either by contacting the Provider Service Center at (888) 289-0709 or by using the dedicated Medicaid Learning Provider website, medicaidelearning.com. Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Provider Service Center guarantees providers have enough help for any questions regarding training or registration.
