MUSC surgeons to meet residents during community robotics event in Florence

Florence, South Carolina – Residents across the Pee Dee will have a chance to step inside the future of surgery when MUSC Health Florence Medical Center opens its doors for a community-focused Robotics Day Drop-In on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Floyd Conference Center, located at 1594 Freedom Boulevard in Florence. Designed as an informal drop-in gathering, the program invites community members to learn more about how modern surgical technology is changing care close to home.

At the center of the event will be the da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery System, a tool used in robotic-assisted procedures to support precision and control during surgery. Visitors will be able to get a hands-on look at the system and better understand how robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgery are helping expand procedural capability.

The day is also meant to connect the public directly with the medical teams using this technology. MUSC surgeons from several specialties are expected to meet and mingle with attendees, including experts in general surgery, bariatrics, gynecology, gynecologic oncology and urology. That mix of specialties reflects how robotic-assisted surgery can support a wide range of patient needs.

For MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, the event also highlights a broader effort to bring advanced surgical options to the region. By expanding access to robotic-assisted surgery, the hospital is working to support precision, efficiency and strong outcomes without requiring patients to travel far from the Pee Dee area.

The drop-in format gives residents, patients and families the opportunity to stop by, ask questions and see the technology up close in a relaxed setting. It is not just a showcase of equipment. It is a chance for the community to better understand how innovation is being used in everyday care.

As robotic-assisted and minimally invasive procedures continue to shape the future of surgery, MUSC Health Florence’s Robotics Day Drop-In offers a clear look at what that progress means locally: more advanced options, more direct access and a growing commitment to excellent outcomes close to home.
