The event will offer residents an opportunity to think ahead, ask questions and become more prepared for the kind of weather emergencies that can affect homes, roads and daily routines.

The day will also include activities meant to keep families engaged.

Children will be able to enjoy planned activities, while the touch-a-truck experience will give them a closer look at vehicles often connected to emergency response, utility work and community services.

Food trucks will also be on site, giving visitors a chance to enjoy a meal while taking part in the event.

The Storm Ready Expo is being organized as more than a public information stop. It is intended as a place where safety, preparedness and community connection meet in a simple, accessible way.

For families, it offers a chance to spend part of the day together while also learning information that could prove important during future storms.

Vendor participation is also open ahead of the event.

Anyone interested in being a vendor must submit an application to Jessica Joe at the Florence County Emergency Management office by the May 11 deadline. The application is available through this link.
