Anderson Brothers Bank breaks ground on new full-service branch in Sumter

Sumter, South Carolina – A new chapter for community banking is beginning on Broad Street in Sumter, where Anderson Brothers Bank has officially broken ground on its newest full-service branch.

The ceremony was held at the future branch site, located at 2831 Broad Street, and marked another step in the bank’s steady expansion across South Carolina.

State and local dignitaries, community leaders, business representatives, and members of the Sumter Chamber of Commerce gathered for the event, turning the groundbreaking into more than a construction milestone. It became a public welcome for a bank preparing to deepen its presence in one of the state’s important local markets.

The planned branch will span 5,164 square feet and will be designed as a full-service location.

For Anderson Brothers Bank, the project is tied closely to its broader mission: serving local families, helping small businesses, and supporting economic activity in the communities where it operates.

Bank representatives used the occasion to speak about the decision to expand into Sumter and the role they believe the new branch can play once its doors open. Their message centered on local service, community connection, and the kind of personal banking experience that has long shaped Anderson Brothers Bank’s identity.

Dan Reynolds, Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer, said the project carries special meaning because of his personal connection to the city.

“As a lifelong resident of Sumter, I look forward to the opportunities Anderson Brothers Bank will bring to our community, serving both consumers and businesses with the level of service they expect and deserve through a full-service branch,” Reynolds said.

“Our ability to create value for our employees, customers, communities, and shareholders will be evident from day one. Anderson Brothers Bank strives to be the bank where people love to work and do business, and those core values are a big part of why I was proud to join ABB four years ago.”

The bank has not yet announced when the new Sumter branch is expected to open. Additional details about the anticipated opening date will be shared later.

Founded in 1933, Anderson Brothers Bank is a family-owned, full-service community bank offering loan services and deposit products. The bank combines traditional personal service, local market knowledge, and modern technology to meet customer needs.

With 26 branches in 19 communities across South Carolina’s Pee Dee, Coastal, and Low Country regions, Anderson Brothers Bank’s move into Sumter adds another marker to its long-running growth story. Now, with the groundbreaking complete, the focus shifts from celebration to construction, and eventually, to welcoming customers inside a new Broad Street branch built for the community it aims to serve.
