City of Florence seeks public input to design next-generation parks and activities, you can join too

Florence, South Carolina – Working with Coastal Carolina University, the City of Florence is reaching out to its citizens to help define the parks and leisure programs of the city. Under the direction of the recently formed Parks, Recreation, and Sports Tourism Department, this project seeks to compile insightful community information through a survey created by university staff and graduate students.

Florence residents have a unique opportunity to help to design and improve nearby parks and leisure areas. Part of a larger effort to create a master plan for the recreational services of the city, this research aims to find the current needs, degree of satisfaction, and preferences of the community on parks and leisure activities.

This survey’s main goals are to better grasp the demands of the community and make sure that future efforts complement those needs. Officials want to engage with the community to find out what activities, facilities, or improvements they desire over the next 5-10 years.

The survey is easy to complete and takes less than 15 minutes; the extra incentive is the possibility to win one of eight $25 Walmart gift cards. This kind gesture seeks to inspire a wide range of neighbors to provide their opinions. Every comment is important to officials; hence, they hope the incentive will inspire more involvement.

Accessible online at the dedicated research page of Coastal Carolina University, the survey will be accessible until March 17. It covers a range of challenges about the kinds of leisure activities available, the quality of the current facilities, and any new services that neighbors want to see.

Participants just need to supply an email address should they wish to enter the gift card drawing; organizers guarantee that the comments will be anonymous and confidential. This guarantees that every answer is entirely directed on enhancing the offers of the city without any personal agenda or consequences for the participants.

Whether or not they frequent the parks and amenities of the city, community members are urged to express their ideas. Every comment will help to make wise decisions that will benefit every resident.

Dr. Don Rockey or Dr. Elizabeth Johansen are accessible at their office numbers shown on the survey website for residents with questions or need for help completing the survey.
