Former President Donald Trump is leading President Biden in the key battleground states, and just recently, several surveys have shown that voters in three of the swing states, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, will vote for Trump regardless of the guilty verdict that Trump might face in the New York trial. Things are definitely not going as Biden and Democrats expected, especially taking into consideration the fact that Trump faces criminal charges in four cases in Georgia, New York, Florida, and Washington, DC.
The issues
Another problem for President Biden is that more voters support the former president nationwide. Since the beginning of the primaries early this year, Trump has maintained a constant lead over Biden nationally. Currently, Trump has a 0.7% lead based on 678 polls, according to The Hill. Biden’s biggest issues among American voters are the handling of the immigration crisis at the southern border, the American economy, and, most importantly, his age and ability to lead the country for four more years.
Not the best possible candidates
Americans are not happy with the given choice for president in November, but the Trump-Biden rematch is almost certain. As the presidential campaign progresses, a growing number of Americans now also question Trump’s mental fitness and ability to be president. It’s evident that Trump’s latest public appearances are not as energetic as they used to be, and Trump has made mistakes on numerous occasions during his speeches, further raising concerns among voters. President Joe Biden is 81 years old, while Donald Trump is 77.
Psychiatrist claims Trump is unfit for White House office
In an exclusive interview with Daily Express US, a psychiatrist has voiced concerns about Donald Trump’s “mental state” and its impact on his legal challenges. Dr. Bandy Lee, who previously worked at Yale School of Medicine and is now with Harvard Medical School, has expressed since 2016 that Trump is “mentally unstable.” Dr. Lee edited a 2017 book titled ‘The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump’, featuring essays from 27 mental health experts who argue that Trump is not fit for the presidency.

The New York trial
Regarding the New York trial, Dr. Lee believes that Trump’s mental condition is influencing the proceedings. She points out his behavior towards judges, their families, and other officials involved, suggesting that he uses his mental state to affect those participating in his cases, including the ongoing New York hush money case.
“I think the question is how his mental state is affecting his legal cases. There is a whole list of threats he has made to judges, their families, the prosecutors, and the Attorney General. All of this has happened because he has used his psychological influence on his followers. He is using this as a weapon against the institutions so that they are no longer able to administer the law,” Lee said.
Gag order
Judge Juan Merchan issued a directive to the former president, Donald Trump, prohibiting him from making public comments about potential trial witnesses concerning their involvement in the investigation or the criminal proceedings. Despite this order, Trump has continued to risk further penalties by making disparaging remarks about two key witnesses and the judge himself. In a post on his Truth Social platform, he labeled his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, and adult film actress Stormy Daniels as “two sleaze bags who have, with their lies and misrepresentations, cost our Country dearly!”
Trump fined for violating the gag order
In response to these actions, the judge overseeing Trump’s hush money case declared him in criminal contempt for violating the gag order. On Tuesday, the judge found Trump guilty of nine violations of this order, fining him $1,000 for each infraction. Judge Merchan threatened Trump that further violations could lead to imprisonment, stating that he would impose “an incarceratory punishment” if deemed necessary and appropriate under the circumstances
