City of Columbia hosts workshop to connect realtors with housing loan programs and local lenders

Columbia, South Carolina – The Community Development Department of the City of Columbia is getting ready to hold a workshop for real estate professionals that will be full with useful information. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Busby Street Community Center on Busby Street.

The goal of this session is to teach real estate agents about the city’s several housing loan programs, which can help people who want to buy a property in a number of ways. Some of the main topics of discussion will be the city’s low and fixed interest rate loans and the possibilities for help with down payments and closing costs that can make it easier for many families in the neighborhood to buy a home.

First Citizens Bank, Assurance Financial, Security Federal Bank, and Synovus are just a few of the area lenders that are helping to put on the event. People from these groups will be at the session to talk about their specific financing options, answer questions, and help real estate agents understand how these programs might help their clients.

The Community Development Department wants to work closely with local lenders to make it simpler for real estate agents and banks to work together. This will help locals find affordable housing more easily.
