Columbia, South Carolina – If you love animals and the outdoors, Riverbanks Zoo & Garden in Columbia, South Carolina is the place to go. Over a million people visit this zoo, aquarium, and botanical park every year. It is spread out over 170 acres along the beautiful Saluda River. The Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is South Carolina’s biggest gated attraction, with more than 2,000 animals from more than 350 species.

There are eight separate places in the zoo that were carefully planned to give visitors different experiences with animals and their natural environments. The African Savanna, the Birdhouse, the Farm, the Gorilla Base Camp, the Koala Knockabout, the Ndoki Forest, and the Saluda Factory Interpretive Center all show different parts of the animal kingdom and the natural world.

Riverbanks Zoo is well-known for its diverse exhibits, which include a large variety of fish, birds, reptiles, and mammals. In 2002, areas for African elephants, gorillas, and koalas were added, which were big changes. The Birdhouse at Riverbanks has been praised across the country as one of the best in the country.

The beautiful Botanical Garden, which covers 70 acres, is right next to the zoo. It has unique. gardens like the Walled Garden, the Asian Garden, and the Bog Garden. This peaceful and green area lets people enjoy the variety and beauty of plants in a quiet setting.
