Columbia, South Carolina – The South Carolina State Museum is located on the banks of the Congaree River in downtown Columbia. This state-of-the-art building is the biggest museum in the state and a Smithsonian Affiliate. The historic 1926 Alvan Clark telescope is kept at the Boeing Observatory, which is yet another attraction. This observatory is not only available for stargazing during the nighttime hours; it is also open for solar observing during the daytime hours, providing a one-of-a-kind observation of our universe.
