New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the most popular Democratic politicians in the past few years, is in the spotlight this week following her Monday appearance on the late-night show hosted by Stephen Colbert. AOC discussed different topics with Colbert including the impact of the Russian propaganda within the Republican party, student debt relief package proposed by the Biden admin, the upcoming presidential election and Biden’s backing of Israel’s war in Gaza.
Support for Biden
In the course of the conversation, Ocasio-Cortez affirmed her commitment to vote for President Biden despite her serious concerns about what she described as “genocide” taking place in Gaza. She also explained she is not an uncommitted voter herself — but she wants Democrats to recognize the “upside” of the movement. But she also slammed GOP senators. Ocasio-Cortez criticized Republican lawmakers for allegedly sharing Russian propaganda regarding Ukraine’s conflict.
The impeachment of Biden
Ocasio-Cortez highlighted the impeachment inquiry against President Biden, led by Republicans, which she claims was initiated using dubious evidence linked to Russian intelligence. This claim follows statements from two GOP House members about Russian propaganda infiltrating their party. “We just went through an impeachment attempt on the president of the United States that was started with a source that Republicans used that was in communication with Russian intelligence,” she said.
Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary recent attack on AOC
While pretty popular among Democratic voters, the progressive lawmaker has recently been publicly attacked by Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary, the millionaire who has become more frequently involved in public appearances, usually speaking on the economy, business, and most recently, politics. While being a good politician, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fails as a manager, at least according to O’Leary.

A “successful politician,” but a “horrible manager.”
The entrepreneur spoke with Tyrus for his Outkick show Maintaining with Tyrus in an episode that aired on Sunday at 9 a.m. ET. Parts of the interview were made publicly available on X, formerly known as Twitter, before the full episode was out. Speaking about Ocasio-Cortez in a clip from the chat, O’Leary called her a “successful politician,” but a “horrible manager.”
“I look at AOC, what an incredible, incredibly successful politician she is and what a horrific manager she is. Her jurisdiction looks like a third world country, and yet she’s great at social media and making outrageous statements and getting $5 at a time on, you know, every way she can on social,” he said. “Good for her. But wow, look what she did when Amazon came knocking for 10,000 jobs.”

AOC is “great at killing jobs”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the representative for New York’s 14th District, which includes neighborhoods in the Bronx and Queens. Kevin O’Leary previously challenged her to a debate and criticized her for contributing to making New York a difficult place to invest. He said she’s “great at killing jobs.”
The Amazon investment that failed
Back in 2019, Ocasio-Cortez was vocal about imposing higher taxes and tougher regulations on Amazon’s proposed headquarters in New York City. Eventually, Amazon decided to drop the project. Ocasio-Cortez celebrated the decision, attributing the victory to activists who stood up against what she termed Amazon’s “corporate greed.”
In his chat with Tyrus, O’Leary said the “great thing” about democracy is being able to replace ineffective leaders.
“Not that she isn’t just great as a politician. There are countries that have weak leaders. There are states that have bad governors. I think people the great thing about democracy is say we can do better right up my head, let’s do better,” he said.
O’Leary doesn’t see AOC as a successful businesswoman
Tyrus asked O’Leary even he’d invest in Ocasio-Cortez if she was a business since he believes she’s a “great politician.”
“Let me be specific, I wouldn’t hire her to manage a candy store,” he said.
