McEntire Produce to bolster local economy with $26.2 million expansion in Richland County

Richland County, South Carolina – McEntire Produce, a major supplier of fresh produce, plans to grow its operations in Richland County with a big investment that will bring it up to date and improve its production capabilities. This is considered to be a boost for the local economy. The family-owned company, which has been in the neighborhood since 1938, said it would spend $26.2 million to improve its building at 2040 American Italian Way in Columbia. This expansion is projected to bring 40 new jobs to the area.

The investment should increase the capacity

The investment will mostly go toward making the current facility more automated. This is expected to greatly increase the company’s output capacity. This change comes as part of McEntire Produce’s plan to encourage growth and new ideas in its business.

“The McEntire family is pleased to make further investments in its Richland County manufacturing facility,” Carter McEntire, President and CEO of McEntire Produce, said in the news release. “The investments that are planned for the next five years will increase capacity, allow customers to grow, and give more jobs to people in South Carolina.”

Over the years, McEntire Produce has been preparing, repackaging, and selling fresh produce in bulk. The company mostly works with fast food restaurants and does basic processing on lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and coleslaw mix. This expansion is a testament to McEntire Produce’s dedication to excellence and its commitment to the community it has served for decades.

Hugh Weathers, the commissioner of agriculture for South Carolina, was excited about the project and talked about how it could help the state’s agriculture industry.
