Florence invites residents to explore public service jobs during citywide hiring event scheduled for March 19

Florence, South Carolina – Residents seeking employment with the City of Florence will have an opportunity to explore a range of career options during a city-wide hiring event scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2026. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pearl Moore Basketball Center, located at 500 Barnes Street.

City officials say the hiring event is designed to connect job seekers directly with multiple municipal departments that are currently expanding their teams. Representatives from areas including Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism, Fire, Police, Public Works, and Utilities will be present throughout the day, conducting on-site interviews and discussing available roles with prospective applicants.

Organizers describe the event as an opportunity for candidates to learn more about public service careers while potentially securing employment with the city. Attendees will be able to speak directly with hiring staff, ask questions about responsibilities and qualifications, and in some cases complete interviews on the spot.

Several positions are currently open across different departments. Among them is an Automotive Mechanic II role, offering $20.58 per hour for a standard 40-hour work week. The city is also recruiting for a Controller position with a salary of $93,457.11 annually.

Additional openings include a part-time Office Assistant position within the Justice and Law department, which offers $17.51 per hour and requires availability on rotating weekends and city holidays. A Gymnastics Coordinator role is also available, with a listed annual salary of $63,255.45.

City employment comes with a range of benefits, according to organizers. These include access to state health coverage, retirement benefits, paid holidays, uniforms and equipment when required, and services through a wellness clinic staffed by a nurse practitioner.
