Florence families urged to review application requirements for 2026–2027 IB Middle Years Programme

Florence, South Carolina – Families planning ahead for the 2026–2027 school year are being encouraged to review application details for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme offered at Williams Middle School and Wilson High School. District officials underline that filling out an application does not guarantee a spot in the program, as entrance is dependent on a number of academic qualities and is competitive.

The International Baccalaureate Program is well-known for its high academic standards and its goal of creating motivated, high-achieving students. Students in grades 6 through 8 at Williams Middle School and grades 9 and 10 at Wilson High School can take part in the Middle Years Program.

The programs are meant to work together to give students an organized and challenging education that will help them face future academic obstacles.

The IB/MYP focuses on teaching the full student through a wide range of subjects, as stated in the application guidelines. It is considered one of the most challenging college-preparatory pathways available. Students who don’t live in the school’s specified attendance zones can still apply, which opens up the application process to people from outside the community.

A detailed look at academic records is a big part of the selecting process. To decide who gets in, officials will look at each applicant’s report cards, teacher recommendations, and other student records. Children and their families are in charge of filling out and sending in the application, but district workers take care of processing things like test scores and transcripts.

Applicants must also be responsible for letting professors know that they need to write recommendations and making sure that all of the necessary materials are turned in on time. Officials said that students who don’t fill out all of their applications may have a lower probability of being accepted.
