Columbia’s Design and Development Review Commission to hold public meeting on Dec. 18

Columbia, South Carolina – The Design and Development Review Commission for the City of Columbia will meet on Thursday, December 18, 2025. There will be a public hearing at City Hall, located at 1737 Main Street in downtown Columbia, at 4 p.m. The committee reviews into proposed development projects to make sure they meet the city’s design standards and planning goals.

Residents, stakeholders, and members of the media will have multiple options to follow the proceedings. People who want to go to the meeting in person can do so at City Hall. Others can view it live on the City of Columbia’s official website or on the city’s government YouTube page. City officials claim that the hybrid format is meant to make the review process easier for more people to understand.

People are also encouraged to get involved before the gathering. People can send in written comments, letters, or declarations by email before the session. To make sure that comments are linked to the right agenda items, submissions should include the sender’s name and clear case facts, including the property address and the reason for the request.

City staff said that getting written feedback ahead of time lets commission members look at public comments as part of their decision-making process. If you live in Columbia and have questions about agenda items, procedures, or development review policies, you can call the Planning Division of the City of Columbia.
