Florence Chamber seeks local business leader whose impact reaches beyond the workplace

Florence, South Carolina – The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce is inviting the community to help recognize a local business leader whose work reaches beyond the doors of a company and into the Florence area itself.

Nominations are now open for the Chamber’s 2026 Business Person of the Year award, an honor intended for a successful businessperson who has demonstrated responsibility to employees, customers and members of the community.

The selection process gives residents, business associates and others familiar with Florence’s business community an opportunity to put forward someone they believe represents those qualities. Nominees must work for a business that is a member of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce. They also must be associated with a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or professional practice operating in the Florence area.

Not every community leader is eligible for consideration. Elected officials and employees of government agencies or not-for-profit organizations cannot be nominated unless they are also involved in a business and meet the award’s eligibility requirements.

The nomination period leads toward one of the Chamber’s major gatherings later this year. The 2026 Business Person of the Year award will be presented during the Chamber’s Fall Membership Luncheon on September 23 at the Florence Center.

For the Chamber, the award places attention on the people behind local businesses — individuals whose decisions, leadership and everyday commitment influence their workplaces, serve their customers and contribute to the broader community. The nomination process allows those efforts to be recognized by the people who have seen their impact firsthand.

Nominations must be received by Friday, July 10. Once the deadline passes, attention will turn toward the fall luncheon, where the Chamber will publicly honor the person selected to carry the 2026 Business Person of the Year distinction.
