Florence gathering brings men’s health conversations into a front porch-inspired community setting

Florence, South Carolina – A front porch has long been a place where people settle in, speak openly and listen without pressure. That simple sense of comfort is at the center of the SC Cancer Alliance’s upcoming Men’s Health Month gathering, an event designed to bring important health conversations into a welcoming community setting.

The organization will host its 2nd Annual Men’s Health Month Celebration, themed “Brothers on The Porch,” on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Senior Citizen Association, located at 600 Senior Way in Florence.

The program is built around connection and practical information. Rather than allowing health concerns to remain unspoken, “Brothers on The Porch” will create space for residents to learn, ask questions and hear from others who share a commitment to stronger, healthier communities.

Men’s health awareness and cancer prevention will be among the central topics during the celebration. The event will also address breast and cervical cancer education, recognizing that improving health outcomes requires information and support that reaches individuals and families across the community.

Mental health and overall wellness will also be part of the discussion. Along with physical screenings, prevention and treatment, wellness can be shaped by whether people feel supported, informed and able to seek help. The SC Cancer Alliance event aims to encourage those conversations in a setting that feels approachable and familiar.

Another focus will be access to care and healthy lifestyle choices. Residents attending the event will have opportunities to connect with community resources and gain information that may help them make informed decisions about their health and the health of their loved ones.

The celebration will include engaging panel discussions, resource-sharing opportunities and time for attendees to connect with people working toward better health outcomes for all. Through those conversations, organizers hope to make health education feel less distant and more personal.

As Men’s Health Month begins, “Brothers on The Porch” offers Florence residents a chance to gather around topics that can affect every household. The event is open to community members interested in learning more, finding support and taking part in a shared conversation about prevention, wellness and care.
