Florence, South Carolina – Glenn and Traci Godfrey have generously donated $35,500 to Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) to create annual scholarships for students working towards specific degrees. Named in honor of Glenn’s father, a 1968 FDTC graduate, the Godfrey Family Scholarship will help Welding, Civil Engineering, and Business students.
The contribution emphasizes the strong origins and continuous dedication of the Godfrey family toward the Florence community. President and CEO of QAT and Pee Dee Tank Glenn Godfrey highlighted the close personal connection behind this kind deed.
“My passion for FDTC comes from a personal place. My father’s experience here in 1968 laid the foundation for him to start what is now a very successful family business. Without the confidence and skills he gained at Tech, we may not be here today. These scholarships feel like a natural fit for our family to continue supporting technical education,” Godfrey said in the release.

“I own and manage numerous properties throughout Florence, each with HVAC systems, and I know firsthand the value of skilled electricians, plumbers, and engineers. At our manufacturing plant, we rely on engineering expertise, and as a developer and business owner, I see how vital these professions are. FDTC is at the heart of training the next generation for these essential careers.”
Beyond his professional engagements, Glenn Godfrey has been a proactive figure in local sports and youth development, which further demonstrates his dedication to nurturing potential.
“I coached kids from U6 soccer at ESAB to track and field in high school, because I wanted to make an impact on their lives. Now, I have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students through this scholarship,” he shared.

The scholarships are meant to provide opportunities for students ready to enter technical disciplines vital for the local economy. Every scholarship winner will get financial support to help pay for tuition and other school costs, therefore lowering obstacles to entrance into these important fields.
“This generous gift from Mr. Godfrey exemplifies the power of community partnerships in transforming students’ lives. His commitment to student success and workforce development will have a profound and lasting impact on our students and the local economy,” Sheryl Love, Executive Director of the FDTC Educational Foundation said.
