City of Columbia launches job fair to keep young professionals in the community

Columbia, South Carolina – The City of Columbia is thrilled to announce the forthcoming Columbia Talent Retention Fair in a unique effort to preserve local talent and deepen community ties. Set to take place Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, this creative event aims to link recent graduates and students with a wide range of local employment possibilities.

Coordinated by the City of Columbia in association with the Midlands Business Leadership Group, Columbia Opportunity Resource, and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, this fair represents a significant step toward combining the city’s growing workforce with existing and new local businesses. Mayor Rickenmann’s Collegiate Engagement Council, which consists of student representatives from every Columbia university, started the effort.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet a broad spectrum of industry partners, community leaders, and local businesses from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. From internships to full-time jobs, these organizations are eager to highlight several career routes so that participants may create strong professional contacts within the city.

Apart from serving as a networking center, the Talent Retention Fair is a strategic step to guarantee that the trained talented people from Columbia would want to remain to operate and benefit the local community. Aiming to lower the brain drain sometimes observed when graduates search for possibilities in bigger cities, the exhibition reflects a proactive attitude to job creation and talent development.
