Florence animal shelter waives cat and dog adoption fees through May 30

Florence, South Carolina – A month-long opportunity is opening at the Jayne H. Boswell Animal Shelter, giving families a chance to welcome a new cat or dog without paying an adoption fee.

From May 1 through May 30, 2026, adoption fees for cats and dogs at the shelter are completely waived, thanks to generous support from the Petfinder Foundation.

The effort is designed to help more shelter animals move from kennels into homes, while also giving local residents a meaningful way to make room in their lives for a new companion.

For many animals waiting at the shelter, the right adoption can change everything. A quiet cat may finally find a sunny window.

A playful dog may get the yard, walks, and steady love it has been waiting for. During this special period, the shelter is making that first step easier by removing the adoption fee for eligible cats and dogs throughout the month.

The Jayne H. Boswell Animal Shelter expressed deep appreciation for the Petfinder Foundation’s support, noting that the organization’s generosity is making the free-adoption period possible.

The foundation works to support animal welfare efforts and help adoptable pets find homes. More information about its work is available at https://petfinderfoundation.org/.

Anyone interested in adopting is encouraged to take advantage of the waived-fee period before it ends on May 30.

While the adoption fee will be free during this window, the heart of the effort remains the same: connecting animals with safe, caring, and lasting homes.
