BJ’s Wholesale Club opens five stores in South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, and Tennessee this year

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – On Wednesday, BJ’s Wholesale Club revealed plans to widen their presence in the country by opening additional stores this year.

Based in Massachusetts, BJ’s aims to launch five new outlets that will each generate 150 jobs for the community. BJ’s runs smaller, more compact warehouse clubs in comparison to its rivals like Sam’s Club and Costco Wholesale. The state of Florida is scheduled to welcome two of these new BJ’s locations in Palm Coast and West Palm Beach. The other venues are slated for opening in Carmel, Indiana; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Maryville, Tennessee.

“Our real estate pipeline is the strongest it’s been in 20 years, and we look forward to helping even more families save up to 25% off grocery store prices as we add clubs to both new and existing markets,” Bill Werner, BJ’s executive vice president of strategy and development, said in a statement.

In line with BJ’s expansion goals for the 2024 fiscal year, the enterprise is preparing to inaugurate 12 new clubs along with 15 additional BJ’s branded gas stations. At a financial briefing in March, Werner underscored the robust sales and rising shopper involvement at BJ’s in recent stages.

Presently, BJ’s has a presence in 20 states with 244 club sites and 175 gas stations under their brand.

“This is really clubs’ time, right? You think about the shopping environment that’s out there where value is paramount. There’s not better value than the club business,” CEO Bob Eddy told analysts and investors. “And so we need to be as aggressive as possible in bringing what we offer to new markets and to really extending our reach in existing markets as well.”
