Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest returns to Florence with free pumpkins and online submissions by October 29

Florence, South Carolina – The City of Florence Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department is preparing for a creative and festive tradition: the Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Designed to captivate the community from October 14th to the 29th, this event promises to inspire young and adult audiences equally.

Two age divisions for the contest this year help to promote a fair and fun competition: one for individuals aged 16 to 17 and another for those who are 18 years of age and above. With rewards waiting for the top three in each age group, entrants are competing for the sought-after spots. The competition stresses originality and inventiveness, which prepares the ground for an energetic exhibition of decorated pumpkins.

Knowing the need for supplies, the agency is also providing pumpkins for individuals who might not have simple access to one. Interested participants have to make their free pumpkin request by October 11th. Every competitor is entitled to one pumpkin, which may be picked up from October 14th to 18th, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., at 513 Barnes Street.

This year, contest entries must be sent in digital form. Participants are required to snap a picture of their decorated pumpkin and turn it in online by October 29th, no later than 11:59 PM. This digital technique not only streamlines the procedure but also helps a larger audience to value the artistic creations from the convenience of their homes.
