Protecting our natural gem: Florence Outside invites volunteers for Jeffries Creek clean-up

Florence, South Carolina – In an effort aimed at safeguarding natural resources and enhancing community spirit, Florence Outside is proud to announce its Jeffries Creek clean-up paddle event on March 1. The activity will begin from the kayak launch beside Naturally Outdoors, and the trip will last for an hour, ending at Jeffries Creek Nature Park on Wisteria Drive.

The main purpose of this event is not only to enjoy a peaceful paddle down Jeffries Creek, but also to help clean up the area. Volunteers will be asked to clean up the creek by picking up trash and other things that don’t belong there. This will help protect the creek’s natural beauty and ecological health. Jeffries Creek is famous for its beautiful cypress-tupelo swamp system.

Jeffries Creek serves as a habitat for a diverse range of wildlife including deer, owls, great blue herons, and otters. In addition, Jeffries Creek serves as a natural filter system. This role also shows how important it is to keep it clean for the health of the community and the environment.

Participants should meet at Naturally Outdoors at 8:00 AM, equipped with their paddling gear. Naturally Outdoors has made a kind offer to help volunteers who need equipment by offering to give boats and other needed gear to those who let them know ahead of time. Additionally, the group will supply trash bags and gloves for the clean-up and arrange a shuttle service to facilitate the volunteers’ return to the starting point.

Jeffries Creek also helps preventing flooding during storms

This event not only shows how committed the community is to protecting the environment, but it also shows how important Jeffries Creek’s wetland is for helping people who are affected by flooding during storms. By participating in the clean-up, volunteers get a unique chance to contribute to the preservation of this vital natural resource while enjoying the camaraderie and scenic beauty of Jeffries Creek.

Community members can call the Naturally Outdoors team at (843-665-1551) if they have any more questions about the event or the sailing gear.
