Florence market turns into pollinator classroom for Bee City Takeover 2026 event set for June 20

Florence, South Carolina – A sweet Saturday is on the way as Bee City Takeover 2026 brings a pollinator celebration to 200 Sanborn Street on June 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will take place at the City Center Farmers Market, giving families, shoppers and curious visitors a chance to learn more about bees, plants and the small creatures that help keep local gardens and food systems alive. Admission is free, making the morning open to anyone who wants to stop by, look around and enjoy the buzz.

This year’s Bee City Takeover will mix education with market-day fun. Local beekeepers will be on site, sharing hive demonstrations and giving visitors a closer look at how bees live and work. For many people, it may be a rare chance to see the world of pollinators up close, without needing to step into a field or keep a hive of their own.

The celebration will also feature pollinator-friendly plants and themed products, offering practical ideas for anyone who wants to make a yard, porch, balcony or garden more welcoming to bees and other pollinators. Visitors can also learn simple ways to protect these important creatures, from choosing better plants to being more mindful of the spaces where pollinators feed and nest.

Children will have their own reason to enjoy the day, with kid-friendly crafts and activities planned as part of the event. Families can move through the market at an easy pace, learning a little, shopping a little and taking part in hands-on fun along the way.

Beyond the bee-themed activities, the farmers market will still bring its local flavor. Farmers, artisans and food vendors will be part of the day, giving visitors plenty to browse while supporting local sellers.

Friends, families and neighbors are invited to “BUZZ on over” for what organizers are calling an un-BEE-lievable time. From hive demonstrations to local shopping, Bee City Takeover 2026 is set to turn a regular market morning into a bright celebration of pollinators and community.
