Florence, South Carolina – Florence will have a chance to gather for an afternoon of music, community pride and American classics when the Florence Symphony Orchestra presents its free Celebrate 250 concert on Sunday, April 26, at the FMU Performing Arts Center.
The performance is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the center, located at 201 S. Dargan Street in Florence. Doors will open at 3:00 p.m., and seating will begin at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free, and no tickets are required.

The concert is designed as a community celebration, bringing together familiar patriotic music, orchestral energy and a touch of Broadway sparkle. The program will highlight the music of America through a lively selection of well-known favorites, including Aaron Copland’s “Hoe-Down,” a piece often recognized for its bright, open sound and fast-moving rhythm.
Broadway will also have a place in the afternoon’s program, with soprano Fran Coleman featured in a special showcase. Her appearance adds another layer to the concert, blending the power of the orchestra with the warmth and drama of the stage.
One of the most memorable moments of the event may come from someone sitting in the audience. Through the Florence Symphony Orchestra’s “Be the Conductor” initiative, one community member will be chosen to step in front of the orchestra and conduct “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
