South Carolina based firm to cease operations later this year and lay off more than 100 workers

South Carolina – A South Carolina company confirmed that it will close in the coming months, resulting in more than 100 workers being laid off due to the decision. This information follows shortly after MAHLE Behr, another South Carolina-based company, confirmed its closure by the end of the year, leaving over 460 people jobless.

Companies continue to lay off workers this year

This is something we see more and more frequently in recent months. Numerous companies, mostly tech giants, have been continuously laying off thousands of workers since the beginning of last year. This year, giants like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, TikTok, eBay, and dozens of others continue this trend, confirming the fear of a potential recession and uncertain economic developments in the period to come.

South Carolina-based Fruit of the Loom distribution center confirmed that it will permanently close and cease operations

Fruit of the Loom, the popular company that owns and operates 750,000-square-foot distribution center in Summerville, confirmed that will start the process of closing by late March. This process should last for a few months and is expected to end by mid-summer. The decision will directly affect a total of 119 workers who are now part of the company operating in Berkeley County.
