Our favorite grocery store brand that offers cheap prices to customers to open another store in South Carolina

South Carolina – Our favorite grocery store brand Trader Joe’s confirmed that the company is looking forward to opening another location in South Carolina and to bring the company’s unique shopping experience available to more Palmetto State residents. While more information and details are yet to be revealed by the grocery store giant, it’s safe to say that this a decision many South Carolina residents will simply adore. And there are numerous reasons for that.

Trader Joe’s expansion across the country

In a bid to broaden its reach and cater to more shoppers the popular grocery store chain Trader Joe’s has recently unveiled plans to expand into new markets, including several major cities across the United States with at least one more store coming to South Carolina.

This decision comes on the heels of a remarkable year for the company, with its sales soaring by over 10%, significantly outpacing the grocery industry’s overall growth. While Trader Joe’s faces intensifying competition from discount chains like Aldi, the grocery giant’s unique approach to quality, affordability, and sustainability continues to captivate customers nationwide.

Trader Joe’s store coming to South Carolina

Thirteen years after it first opened in an old antique mall in Mount Pleasant, Trader Joe’s is gearing up to unveil a second store in the Lowcountry. However, this new location isn’t heading to Charleston, North Charleston, or Summerville; it’s going to in Mount Pleasant.

A spokesperson for the California-based, German-owned supermarket chain, Nakia Rohde, confirmed on January 16th that the new store is indeed destined for Mount Pleasant. Unfortunately, she didn’t share additional details like the precise location, the expected opening date, or whether they’ve inked a letter of intent. For the past few months, the company has been diligently scouting various spots across the Lowcountry.

The Post and Courier has uncovered a specific spot that Trader Joe’s seems keen on: a portion of the former Bi-Lo supermarket in the Sweetgrass Corner Shopping Center, close to the Isle of Palms connector and Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. When contacted, a representative from Continental Realty Corp., the Baltimore-based company that purchased the 90,000-square-foot Sweetgrass Corner in 2022 for $17 million, preferred not to comment and suggested reaching out to a Trader Joe’s representative.

It’s worth noting that Continental Realty also holds the reins for the adjacent Mount Pleasant Towne Centre, which they acquired for $147 million back in 2020. As of now, no official plans to renovate the former Bi-Lo space, located approximately 4.5 miles north of the current store, have been presented to the town, according to a municipal planning official.

“I do not yet have any additional details to share,” Rohde, the Trader Joe’s spokeswoman, said as reportd by the Post and Courier. “I’m happy to share more in the future as we develop a timeline.”
