City of Florence to host formal investiture ceremony welcoming newly elected At-Large City Council Member Zach McKay on April 7 at City Center

Florence, South Carolina – The City of Florence is getting ready to officially greet its newly elected At-Large City Council Member, Zach McKay, with a formal investiture ceremony in a community event. Scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025, at 6:00 pm, this event will take place in the City Council Chambers on the first floor of the City Center at 324 W. Evans Street.

The ceremony promises to be a dignified affair, with the Honorable Marcus L. Woodson, Chief Administrative Judge for the Florence Municipal Court, presiding. As Zach McKay assumes his new position vowing to serve the community with integrity and commitment, it signals a turning point in local government.

For McKay and his supporters, the investiture ceremony is a major occasion; for the people of Florence, who are encouraged to take part in this democratic process, it is also rather important. The City has planned ways to guarantee everyone’s access to the event.

For those unable to attend in person, the event will be live-streamed on the City’s official website. Residents can watch the ceremony live by navigating to www.cityofflorence.com, clicking on the “How Do I” tab, selecting “View,” and then choosing “Meeting Videos.”

The celebration is free to the public, hence residents may join in greeting their new representative in a display of civic pride and community involvement.
