The March 11 event

This beloved event, set for Wednesday, March 11, is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of community, generosity, and the power of coming together for a cause that changes lives. The proceeds from this year’s event will directly support over 1,400 individuals throughout Florence County who are living with intellectual disabilities, autism, and head or spinal cord injuries.

Funds raised will help provide specialized equipment, accessible home modifications, and vital vision and dental services—resources that make an enormous impact on the quality of life for these individuals.

But that’s not all! Contributions also ensure that people with disabilities have access to meaningful recreational opportunities, including Miracle League softball and the Special Olympics, where they can develop skills, build friendships, and experience the joy of competitive sports.

A tradition of giving since 1996

The Annual BBQ Benefit has been a staple in the Florence County community for nearly three decades, beginning in March 1996 as the primary fundraiser for the Florence County Disabilities Foundation. How you can get involved

Local businesses and organizations looking to support the cause can become official event sponsors, gaining recognition across tickets, banners, social media, and even TV and radio promotions. Sponsorship levels range from Title Sponsor ($5,000), which includes extensive promotional opportunities and 100 free BBQ tickets, down to Contributing Sponsor ($250), which includes 5 BBQ tickets and a business mention in the newspaper.

Whether you choose to sponsor, volunteer, or simply buy a plate, your participation helps ensure individuals with disabilities receive the care and opportunities they deserve.

Making a difference, one plate at a time

The Florence County Disabilities Foundation plays a crucial role in funding essential programs and services for individuals with disabilities. Through fundraising efforts like this one, the Foundation is able to support summer camps, holiday meals, talent contests, and Special Olympics uniforms, ensuring that those they serve have access to enriching experiences.
