Trump supporters say ex-SC Governor and GOP primary candidate Nikki Haley cancels Iowa event due to lack of interest

Iowa – Iowa’s caucuses are set to take place on January 15, and that marks the start of the primary season. The former South Carolina Governor and Republican primary candidate Nikki Haley planned an event in Iowa but decided to cancel it due to snow, citing “travel difficulties.” Now, Trump supporters say she had no options left but to cancel the event due to a lack of interest and attendees.

Recently, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has been seeing her rating grow. This comes at the best possible moment for her, just ahead of the GOP primaries, as the polls will help decide who contests the 2024 election on behalf of the Republican Party.

Why former South Carolina Governor canceled the Iowa event?

The Weather Service warned that 14 states, including Iowa, will face tough travel and blinding snow on Monday. They predict up to 11 inches of snow and 40 mph winds by Tuesday.

On Fox News, Haley attended a town hall Monday night. However, some MAGA supporters on X, previously known as Twitter, claimed she called off her first event due to low attendance. They shared a modified MSNBC clip about the event, stating it was dropped just before starting.

GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said he would not cancel his scheduled events

GOP candidate Ramaswamy admitted the snow was a problem but suggested Haley cancelled her event to “avoid embarrassment”. He said he wouldn’t call off his events due to the weather. He had his wife, Apoorva, take over one of his five Monday events, as reported by The New York Times.

Haley wasn’t the only one impacted by the weather. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her dad, ex-Governor Mike Huckabee, also called off two events in Iowa Monday for Trump’s campaign.

Actor Roseanne Barr also withdrew from a Trump campaign event scheduled for Tuesday.

The primary season is fast approaching, and former President Trump is leading in the polls. FiveThirtyEight shows he has 61.8% support, with Florida’s Governor DeSantis at 12.1%. Haley is close behind with 11.2%, and Ramaswamy has 4.8%.

In New Hampshire, a CNN-University of New Hampshire poll shows Haley trailing Trump by just 7%, with 32% support for her against Trump’s 39%.
