Florence, South Carolina – An alleged attack at the Florence Harris Teeter grocery store resulted in the arrest of a man Tuesday night. Captain Stephen Starling of the Florence Police Department reported the incident. After being first noticed close to Mickey Finn’s brewery, the suspect was pursued and eventually managed to escape from police. The suspect was caught at the 1800 block of Gregg Avenue, when he resisted being arrested and was taken into custody.
Despite a little fight during the arrest, Captain Starling said, the subject was securely taken into custody and no injuries were reported.
It’s yet unknown what kind of attack sparked the pursuit. Police have not yet made public the suspect’s identify or any more information regarding what happened inside the Harris Teeter store. Though little information has been released thus far, attempts to clarify the issue are ongoing.
In order to learn more, especially about the nature of the purported assault, Florence News Journal contacted the Florence Police Department. While confirming that the inquiry is still ongoing, Captain Starling has not provided further details about the event.
