Florence County Sheriff’s Office reveals details of fatal shooting incident

Florence, South Carolina – The Florence County Sheriff’s Office has released additional information regarding an incident where two men were found deceased in a car around 2 a.m. on Friday on Meadors Road. The preliminary findings by investigators suggest that the car was operated by a woman, with two men as passengers; one was sitting in the front seat and the other in the rear.

During the journey on Meadors Road, it appears that the two men engaged in a heated verbal dispute that escalated into violence. According to investigators, the man in the rear seat shot the front seat passenger multiple times. In response, the front seat passenger managed to fire back, hitting the rear seat passenger once in the chest. Both men succumbed to their injuries from the shooting.

The deceased have been identified by Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutchken as Darryal Shaw, 43, from North Augusta, South Carolina, and Demestric Dicks, 42, from Winnsboro, South Carolina. Autopsies for both men are scheduled to take place at the Medical University of South Carolina on Monday. Additionally, one of the firearms found at the scene had been reported as stolen from New York, the sheriff’s office reports.

The driver of the vehicle was unharmed in the incident, and as of now, no charges are expected to be filed.
