Florence PD to hold Citizens Police Academy, one-of-a-kind experience for the local community

Florence, South Carolina – The Florence Police Department has announced the commencement of its Citizens Police Academy. This innovative approach, expected to bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community, is set to start on April 16, 2024. Through interesting classes and live demos, the program aims to give people in the area a deep understanding of how the police force works.

The Citizens Police Academy will take place every Tuesday from 6 pm to 8 pm for six weeks. The goal is to give people in the community hands-on training and information about how the police force works every day. People who attend will have the one-of-a-kind chance to learn directly from experienced police officers and see live performances by the department’s specialty teams.

The program covers a lot of topics, with classes on Office Recruiting and Development, Criminal Law, the K9 Team, DUI and Traffic Enforcement, and many more. Not only are these meetings educational, they are also set up so that the police and the attendees can talk for the activities and understand each other.

The primary goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to build transparency and trust within the community. By showing the public how and why the police do what they do, Florence PD aims to dispel misconceptions and build stronger relationships with the citizens of Florence.

Once the program is finished, students should have a better knowledge of the difficulties and problems that local police have to deal with. In turn, the police force hopes to gain from better community relations and the formation of a group of well-informed citizens who can help keep the public safe.

Anyone who wants to know more about how to join the Citizens Police Academy should contact Lt. Barley at the Florence Police Department. Classes are set to begin in the middle of April, so people who want to join are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
