Temporary closures on CSX Bridge in Florence from April 16-18

Florence, South Carolina – In a recent City of Florence announcement, officials have confirmed that the CSX Bridge located on East Palmetto Street is set to undergo crucial repairs. The bridge will be out of commission temporarily, causing a significant reroute of the usual traffic flow. The Southern Commercial Development, the entity overseeing the maintenance operation, has notified the city that the bridge will be closed from Tuesday, April 16, through Thursday, April 18. The closures are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The goal of this temporary closure is the replacement of bridge ties within the railroad trellis that spans Highway 76, directly in front of the McLeod Regional Medical Center. Due to the temporary closure, official advise driver who commute in the area to look for alternative routs during construction hours.

The Southern Commercial Development is tasked with not only conducting the repairs but also managing the traffic control efforts during this period. Their role is critical in ensuring that the work is completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to the public.
