Suspect wanted for April shooting in Florence County arrested on Wednesday by FCSO deputies

Florence County, South Carolina – A man who was connected to a drive-by shooting in Olanta, Florence County, has been arrested, Florence County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. Syntarious Kenyon Daney, aged 21 and a resident of Yarborough Road, was taken into custody on May 8, 2024, by Florence County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) detectives. Daney faces multiple charges, including two counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, discharging a firearm into a vehicle, malicious injury to property, criminal conspiracy, and grand larceny.

The allegations are related to an April 14, 2024, incident. Around 3:30 a.m. that day, FCSO deputies responded to a call reporting gunfire at 4812 Woods Bay Road in Olanta. According to investigators, Daney, as a passenger in a vehicle, shot several 9mm rounds at vehicles and houses. Daney is also charged with planning with another individual to go to the location and carry out the attack.

Additional accusations against Daney have resulted from additional investigation. He allegedly used false information to take a car from a victim on April 25, 2024. This incident resulted in a charge of Grand Larceny. Held at the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Daney is pending a bond hearing. According to authorities, the inquiry is still ongoing and more arrests could take place.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office booking website has further details regarding the arrest and charges for interested parties.
