Florence, South Carolina – Florence County is preparing for a major industrial addition tied directly to national defense. SteelFab, Inc. plans to invest $38.92 million in a new manufacturing operation that will bring more than 100 jobs to the area.
The project also gives the expansion a purpose beyond ordinary construction work. From its future Florence facility, the company will produce fabricated steel parts for U.S. naval defense programs.
SteelFab recently announced that it will establish the operation at 500 Freedom Blvd. in Florence. The company expects the investment to create 108 new jobs once the facility is operating.
Production is scheduled to begin by September 2027, giving SteelFab time to prepare the site and bring the new manufacturing operation online. The Florence County location will expand the company’s existing presence in South Carolina while adding another specialized facility to its nationwide network.
Founded in 1955, SteelFab has spent decades building its position in the steel fabrication industry. The company opened its first South Carolina fabrication plant in 1988 and has continued to grow across the state and the country.
Today, SteelFab operates 35 locations throughout the United States. Its network includes both offices and manufacturing facilities, with existing South Carolina operations in Charleston and Rock Hill.
The Florence expansion represents the company’s latest investment in the state and one of the larger job-producing projects recently announced for the county. With nearly $39 million committed and 108 positions planned, the development will add another manufacturing employer to Florence’s industrial base.
Once production begins, the Freedom Boulevard facility will place Florence County workers inside a supply chain supporting U.S. naval defense, connecting a local economic development project with work intended for national military needs.
