South Carolina hosts 13th Annual Children’s Advocacy Center Day

Columbia, South Carolina – The 13th Annual Children’s Advocacy Center Day will be held in South Carolina on April 10, 2024 marking a significant milestone in the fight against child abuse. On Wednesday, which is part of Child Abuse Prevention Month, professionals, supporters, and legislators will stand together to bring attention to the important work that Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) do in the state. The event can be attended in person and watched online.

The main event of the day will take place at the South Carolina State Capitol. The event will feature key figures such as Attorney General Alan Wilson and representatives from the South Carolina Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers (SCNCAC), the South Carolina Department of Children’s Advocacy, and Children’s Trust of South Carolina. Members of the General Assembly will also be there to show the importance of the day and the commitment of both parties to child care.

The Governor’s Proclamation declaring April 10, 2024 as Children’s Advocacy Center Day in South Carolina will be presented to recognize the valuable contributions that Children’s Advocacy Centers make to protect children and enhance the response to child abuse. This statement will not only honor the date, but it will also stress how important it is for CACs to protect children and improve how the state handles child abuse cases. A decision from the previous year that set April 4, 2023, aside for CACs will also be read again, reiterating the ongoing dedication to child advocacy.

The 2024 BeHeard4Kids State Leadership Award will also be given out during a press meeting. This segment will provide a platform for important announcements and information about the statewide response to child abuse. The event is also a chance to honor the tireless work of Children’s Advocacy Centers and their multidisciplinary teams in protecting the well-being of South Carolina’s children.

The event is more than just a ceremony; it’s a call to action that shows how important it is to respond to child abuse in a way that is based on facts and best practices. Organizers will use this chance to share and promote social media posts that aim to educate and raise knowledge about how to stop child abuse. Through these efforts, and under the banner of #BeHeard4Kids, the community will be encouraged to engage and contribute to the cause not just during Child Abuse Prevention Month but throughout the entire year.

This year’s Children’s Advocacy Center Day will be a strong reminder of how important it is for everyone to work together for a good cause and protect our most vulnerable citizens.
