Several events are taking place in Myrtle Beach this weekend

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – There will be three major events in Myrtle Beach this weekend that are expected to attract thousands of out-of-town visitors. Due to these events, the City of Myrtle Beach on social media said that residents and visitors should expect busy weekend and heavy traffic across the city.

According to the city, traffic is expected to be busy this week along Oak Street, from the Myrtle Beach Convention Center to Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

The 35th annual “Run to the Sun” Car and Truck Show

The 35th Annual Run to the Sun Car and Truck Show will once again take place on March 14-15-16, 2024 at the old Myrtle Square Mall, show hours are 8am to 5pm. It’s expected to have 3,500 classic cars from before 1989.

According to the event’s website, the Run to the Sun Car and Truck Show is pleased to announce celebrity appearance of Tom Wopat, Luke Duke from the iconic 1980’s TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard” which aired 147 episodes over 6 years.  Tom has been performing in stage musicals since the age of 12. Wopat has enjoyed a multi -faceted career in film, television, on the Broadway stage, and singing in venues as varied as Carnegie Hall, The Grand Ol’ Opry, and the Hollywood Bowl.

The Blues Brothers with Stan and Bob Hammond are also expected to have a performance. The brothers have been performing as Jake and Elwood Blues from the hit 1980 movie “The Blues Brothers” for almost a decade and will be at Run to the Sun with the Bluesmobile, their 1974 Dodge Monaco Sedan.

Varsity Cheer LTD Nationals

The Myrtle Beach Convention Center is set to host a national cheerleading competition. Cheer Ltd. CANAM is organizing their varsity competition, which will take place from March 15 to 17 and again on March 22 and 23, as stated on their official website. The city of Myrtle Beach anticipates that this event will attract thousands of attendees.

Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational Track Meet

The Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium will be the venue for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational Track Meet, scheduled to take place from March 14 to 16, as mentioned on the event’s website. The city expects the meet to attract hundreds of participants and spectators.
