Biden has literally no proper challenger in the presidential race, and he is very likely to win the Democratic nomination in his bid for reelection. So far, he has easily won the primaries in New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina, and Michigan, literally swiping the competition. Despite growing concerns regarding his ability to lead the country and his age, not a single prominent Democrat has decided to challenge him, at least not yet. Many believed that West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin might get into the race later this year, but everything became crystal clear last week when Manchin himself announced that he had decided not to launch a presidential bid. And the reason for that is the Republicans.
On Monday last week, West Virginia’s Senator Joe Manchin mentioned that a major reason he decided not to run for president was due to Senate Republicans blocking a bill about the border and international support earlier in the month after he had previously weighed a third-party campaign.
Manchin, who is leaving his position and is set to retire, explained to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that seeing the bill, which had support from both parties, fail was a key moment for him. He realized that even in urgent situations, where he believed politicians would work together, they didn’t. He pointed out that the situation at the border is a real emergency. What Manchin said that his presidential dream was ‘ruined’ by the Republicans’ decision to boycott the border bill which also meant help for Ukraine and Israel.
Manchin interview came just a few days after he announced that he wouldn’t be entering the presidential race. The leaders of the House of Representatives from the Republican party won’t agree to a new package for international aid. This is after Senate Republicans changed their stance on a previous bill that combined border issues and aid, which didn’t get through because of opposition from the leadership of the House Republicans and former President Donald Trump.
The bill failed in the Senate because of a vote against it by Senate Republicans
The attempt to pass the bill in the Senate failed because of a vote against it by Senate Republicans. This vote turned down an agreement that would have put in place tougher border controls. The agreement was partly made by Senator James Lankford from Oklahoma, whom Manchin praised as a very good, honest, and conservative senator.
“I saw my friends walk away when they were determined to pass a border security, and they were on board three days before that. And with Donald Trump coming as hard as he came at them, they cower down and walked away. I said, ‘We’re not fixing anything in Washington,’” Manchin told Collins on “The Source.”

The Moderate Democrat is now working on a new initiative called Americans Together
Joe Manchin, known for his moderate views and sometimes disagreeing with his own party, had considered running for president, possibly with the No Labels ticket. However, he decided against it even though he had set a deadline of this spring to determine whether he would make a run for the White House. Instead, he is choosing to work on a new initiative, Americans Together, which supports centrist policies.
Manchin doesn’t support Biden because of his too-far-left policies; won’t support Trump either
Recently, Manchin chose not to support Joe Biden for president, mentioning Biden’s policies were too far left for his liking. He also made it clear he wouldn’t help Donald Trump win the presidency again. Manchin hasn’t decided who he’ll support yet, stating there’s still time to see how things unfold. He aims to encourage politics to move towards the center, believing that’s where the country’s true strength and majority of voters are.
Manchin expects other candidates to enter the race later this year
When asked about the possibility of the next presidential election being between Biden and Trump again, Manchin’s response was to wait and see what happens. He highlighted that it’s still early and other candidates, including independents or someone from the No Labels party, might enter the race, presenting more choices.

“That’s a long time before that happens. Right now there might be other people getting in, there’re still independents, you might have still a third party run from No Labels, and we’ll just see what opportunities and what type of options you have,” he said.
