“Rantings of a bloodthirsty lunatic”: Trump base is cracking, hard-core MAGA joins Dems to remove him from office

California – From California to New York, growing number of lawmakers, prominent political figures, former politicians and millions of ordinary Americans think that President Donald Trump should be impeached.

But the push to remove President Donald Trump from office through the Twenty-Fifth Amendment is no longer coming only from Democrats.

A small but notable group of former Trump allies and right-wing voices has now joined the broader chorus questioning whether he is fit to remain in power, adding new fuel to an already volatile political moment.

The calls are unfolding as fears and outrage spread over Trump’s conduct, with critics warning that his actions and rhetoric are pushing the country, and much of the world, into a state of deep instability.

For some lawmakers and commentators, the concern has moved beyond ordinary political disagreement. They argue the situation has become serious enough to raise the question of whether Trump should continue serving as president at all.

According to a list compiled by Drop Site News reporter Julian Andreone, a growing number of members of Congress are openly calling for the Twenty-Fifth Amendment to be invoked.

That constitutional mechanism would allow Trump to be declared unfit for office and transfer presidential power to Vice President JD Vance. If Trump refused to step aside on his own, Vance and a majority of the Cabinet would have to act independently to remove him from power.

That is where the effort runs into a major obstacle.

Trump’s Cabinet is widely seen by critics as deeply loyal to him, making any such move highly unlikely. Even so, the list of lawmakers backing the idea has continued to grow.

Among the Democrats identified by Andreone as supporting invocation of the amendment are Arizona Representative Yassamin Ansari, Colorado Representative Diana DeGette, California Representatives Ro Khanna and Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Delaware Representative Sarah McBride, Florida Representative Maxwell Frost, Illinois Representative Delia Ramirez, Maryland Representative Johnny Olszewski, Massachusetts Representatives Ayanna Pressley and Seth Moulton, Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey, Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, Michigan Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Shri Thanedar, New Mexico Representative Melanie Stansbury, Pennsylvania Representative Summer Lee, Texas Representative Julie Johnson, and Wisconsin Representative Mark Pocan.

The pressure does not stop there.

Several additional Democratic lawmakers not included on Andreone’s list have also publicly backed the same demand.

They include California Representative Doris Matsui, Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Washington Senator Patty Murray.

“These are the rantings of a bloodthirsty lunatic. It is sick beyond measure to threaten to wipe out an entire civilization. This is not what the American people want. It is well past time for the Republican Congress to join Democrats and put an end to this war,” Senator Patty Murray wrote on X.

What makes the moment more striking is that criticism is no longer confined to Trump’s usual opponents.

The only congressionally affiliated Republican explicitly calling for Trump’s removal, according to the provided information, is former Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who resigned from her duties in January. Her break with Trump on this question stands out, particularly given her past alignment with the president and his political movement.

Outside Congress, several well-known right-wing media figures have also suggested Trump is unfit for office.

Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, and Candace Owens are among the conservative pundits now voicing doubts, a development that underscores how concerns about Trump’s leadership are spreading into circles once considered firmly in his corner.

For now, the movement remains largely symbolic unless those closest to Trump decide to act. The Twenty-Fifth Amendment sets an extraordinarily high bar, and without support from the vice president and Cabinet, the effort is unlikely to go anywhere.

Still, the widening list of critics is politically significant. It reflects a moment in which alarm over Trump’s behavior is no longer limited to the left, but is beginning to fracture parts of the coalition that once helped sustain him.

Whether that pressure grows into something more concrete remains uncertain. But as more voices from both sides of the political divide call for drastic action, the debate over Trump’s fitness for office is becoming harder for Washington to ignore.
