Florence, South Carolina – Florence police are investigating a shooting that drew officers to a residential area Tuesday afternoon after multiple people reported hearing gunfire.
The incident happened on April 21, 2026, at about 12:10 p.m. in the area of North Buckingham Road and Sopkin Avenue, according to the Florence Police Department.
Officers were sent to the scene after several calls came in about shots being fired.

When police arrived, they found multiple shell casings in the area, confirming that gunfire had taken place.
No immediate details were released about what led up to the shooting, how many people may have been involved, or whether the gunfire came from one person or more than one source.
A short time later, officers were notified that someone had been dropped off at a local hospital with injuries connected to the incident. Police said the injuries were not life-threatening. The person’s name, age and other identifying details were not released.
The department said the case remains active, and investigators are continuing to work through the evidence and available information. More details are expected to be shared as they become available.
For now, police are asking anyone who may know something about the shooting to come forward.
