Columbia’s Children’s Charities of the Midlands donates $138,000 to support local kids in need of help

Columbia, South Carolina – Children’s Charities of the Midlands (CCM) has distributed over $138,000 to 16 different nonprofit organizations dedicated to enhancing the well-being of children and young people in the area. In partnership with the ChippenWhales Plunge Team and other collaborators, CCM gathered these funds entirely through various events and sponsor contributions, underscoring their commitment to the local community and the support of needy children.

This year, four major events were organized: the Lake Carolina Polar Plunge in January, a community 5k run in the fall, the Lake Carolina Oyster Roast also during the fall, and a corn hole tournament in the spring. Plans are in place to include a golf tournament in the fundraising activities for the 2024-2025 period.

“We are thrilled to have continued to increase our total amount of funds raised each year,” said Gary Matthews, founding member of the ChippenWhales and head charity volunteer. “The beneficiaries are all dedicated to helping children right here in the Midlands, and we love knowing the impact our donations make.”

This year’s recipients include:
