Florence, South Carolina – A workplace campaign built one paycheck deduction, donation and act of generosity at a time has earned the City of Florence recognition at the gold level.
City employees contributed $52,643.82 to the United Way’s 2026 campaign, placing the municipality within a category reserved for organizations raising between $40,000 and $69,999. That total helped the city secure the Gold Level Runner-Up honor for United Way’s 2026 Campaign Excellence Award.
The recognition reflects more than the success of a single fundraising drive. City of Florence employees have supported the United Way of Florence County for more than 30 years, creating a long-running partnership focused on helping people throughout the community.
Since 2017 alone, employees have contributed approximately $380,000. The figure shows how years of steady participation can grow into a significant source of support for local needs.

This year’s contribution represents nearly 14% of the amount employees have donated since 2017. It also places the city’s campaign more than $12,600 above the minimum required to reach the Gold Level.
City officials thanked employees for their generosity and their continued commitment to making a positive impact in Florence County. Their contributions help the United Way support efforts aimed at strengthening the community and improving the lives of people in need.
The campaign’s success also highlights the role employees can play outside their daily responsibilities. While municipal workers serve Florence through public services, their voluntary giving extends that work into local programs and assistance efforts supported by the United Way.
The Gold Level Runner-Up award provides a visible marker of that commitment, but the larger story is found in the consistency behind it. More than three decades of participation has allowed thousands of individual contributions to become a sustained investment in Florence County.
As the partnership continues, the 2026 campaign adds another chapter to a record of workplace giving that has already generated hundreds of thousands of dollars for the community.
