Planned for April 26, 2025, the race will begin at 9:00 AM from the site of the City Waste Water Management Facility. This location not only acts as the base but also helps participants with its recently constructed LEED® Certified Administration & Laboratory Building, which offers modern conveniences such as showers and toilets following the race.

Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful and historic path of the race course. It goes across the Freedom Florence Connections section of the Florence Trail System, which stretches roughly 8 miles east side of the city.

The long-awaited 10th Annual Flo-Town 5K Run/Walk is scheduled to take place in the center of Florence on April 26 at 9 a.m.

Participants will experience a journey through time as they run or walk alongside the tranquil Jeffries Creek and through areas rich with Civil War history. The trail crosses the southern wall of the former Florence Stockade, a site originally utilized as a Confederate prisoner-of-war camp, over a boardwalk bridge.

Adding to the allure, the course meanders through a natural woodland area, across boardwalks surrounding the Freedom Florence pond, and into a broom straw field historically used as a lookout area with guard posts and rifle pits during the Civil War. The race ends back at the Waste Water Management Facility, allowing a loop of historical curiosity mixed with natural beauty.

The event is specifically meant to be inclusive; strollers are allowed even if some of the trail sections might pose difficulties. Music lovers can also enjoy their playlists while running, and dog owners can bring well-socialized animals—provided they stay on leashes and under supervision.

The Flo-Town 5K also stands out for its competitive spirit with awards categories that include Top Male & Female overall, Masters Male and Female, and even Top 3 Canines, ensuring that furry friends get their moment of glory. Age group awards will be given across a spectrum from 9 and under to 60 and above, ensuring everyone has a chance to shine.
