City of Florence invites residents to showcase festive creativity in this year’s Holiday Decorating Contest

Florence, South Carolina – The City of Florence is once again asking residents to show off their best and most festive decorations for the annual Holiday Decorating Contest. Organizers say they’ve already seen some great decorations across town, and this year’s festival is meant to get even more of that holiday flair.

Families are welcome to share their favorite scenes, whether they shine from the front yard or dazzle on the mantle in the living room.

There are still two familiar categories in the contest: indoor decorations and outdoor displays. Each category honors a different way to convey the holiday, from carefully placed decorations indoors to the bright lights and ornaments that light up neighborhoods.

This year’s competition features a modest but welcome modification. For the first time, there will be second-place rewards in both categories. This will give more people an opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work.

Residents can enter by uploading pictures of their decorated places using this link. Submissions enable judges and fellow community members see how creative people can be, from classic Christmas themes to more fun or unique ideas.

City officials want everyone to take part, saying that the event typically leads to nice conversations between neighbors as the displays get more creative each year.

Community members believe the event has become a simple method to convey joy around the city.  With each admission, the joyous mood grows, and homes and streets become little celebrations of the season. The City of Florence can’t wait to see how this year’s decorations capture the Christmas mood and get other people to participate in the fun as locals get their photos ready.
