Celebration of Art invites Myrtle Beach residents to enjoy local talent and live jazz on Friday, May 15

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – Myrtle Beach residents looking for a simple, creative way to spend part of their Friday will have a chance to step into a room filled with local talent, community pride and the work of artists who have been creating throughout the year.

The city’s Celebration of Art showcase is set for Friday, May 15, at Chapin Memorial Library, where participants in the “Arts for Life” program will share the pieces they have made over the past year.

The annual event is hosted by Recreation Leader Wendy Bass, who brings the showcase together as a way to highlight the creativity, growth and talent of her peers.

The showcase will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is open to the community. Visitors will be able to view artwork created by local budding artists, enjoy snacks and light refreshments, and spend time in a welcoming setting centered on art and connection.

The event will also include live jazz from musician Walter Polinski, adding music to a morning and early afternoon built around creativity. Free public parking will be available for those attending.

Raffle tickets will be sold during the showcase, with all proceeds going to the Mark Schild Youth Scholarship Fund. Organizers are using the event not only to celebrate art, but also to support a fund connected to youth opportunities in the community.

The Celebration of Art is also supported through arts funding beyond Myrtle Beach.

The project is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which received support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of The Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina.
