Florence 1 Schools calls on local groups to help shape staff volunteer program

Florence, South Carolina – Florence 1 Schools is expanding a districtwide effort to improve well-being by asking local groups to help make meaningful volunteer opportunities for school employees. The project is part of an ongoing relationship with Blue Zones that aims to help people in the Florence area live healthier, more connected lives.

According to research the district has referenced, volunteering can make people happier and more satisfied with their jobs. The Florence 1 Schools Board of Trustees has approved a program that lets employees take a day off from their usual duties to serve in their community.

In return, staff workers are praised for their service, which reinforces the district’s focus on community service and involvement.

The district is seeking community groups to offer volunteer activities that aren’t religious or political in order to carry the initiative ahead. These opportunities should let workers use their time and abilities in ways that help the whole community while maintaining district rules.

District authorities believe that the goal of the campaign is to help everyone involved. Employees get support for causes they care about, and local groups get help from passionate volunteers.

At the same time, the effort helps the district reach its larger aim of encouraging long-term health for teachers, staff, students, families, and residents of Greater Florence.

Organizations that want to take part should let the district know directly about their volunteer needs. Officials at Florence 1 Schools said they hope the initiative will bring people together and make service a visible and important part of the district’s culture.

Please contact Nathaniel Marshall, F1S Chief Personnel Officer, at [email protected] to share your organization’s volunteer opportunities with Florence 1 staff.
