Florence Business Community to celebrate annual luncheon with leadership insights from Otis CEO

Florence, South Carolina – The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for one of its most anticipated events of the year – the Annual Membership Luncheon – scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2025. The gathering, which celebrates the strength and collaboration of the local business community, will take place at the Florence Center. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., with the formal program beginning promptly at noon.

This year’s luncheon will feature a keynote address by Joe Armas, President of Otis U.S. & Canada. With a career at Otis spanning more than two decades, Armas brings a global perspective shaped by leadership roles across both the United States and Asia. He has been instrumental in introducing advanced elevator technologies and has overseen several landmark projects around the world. In 2022, he served as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, further establishing his influence in international business circles.

Before entering the private sector, Armas served as an officer in the United States Army for six years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics engineering from the University of Washington, an MBA from Purdue University, and a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University. His diverse background, both military and corporate, is expected to offer attendees unique insights into leadership, innovation, and global business trends.

In addition to the keynote, the luncheon will include the announcement of the Business Person of the Year award, an annual recognition sponsored by Anderson Brothers Bank. This accolade honors an individual whose business acumen and community involvement have made a meaningful impact in the Florence area.
