Timmonsville police officer arrested in Florence County this past weekend is on administrative leave

Florence County, South Carolina – A Timmonsville police officer, Justin Demetrius Bostick, age 33, got suspended from the job due to being arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in Florence County. This information was confirmed by the Timmonsville Police Chief, James Allen.

Bostick got arrested this past Sunday and was released later in the day after paying a bond of $2,265.

“An employee was involved in an incident off-duty and not involving any town equipment. We are dealing with it as a personnel matter. He has been placed on administrative leave,” Police Chief James Allen said in a statement to Florence News Journal.

Ongoing investigation

The case is still being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol which is expected to provide more details regarding the case in the coming period.

Bostick joined the Timmonsville Police on January 13, 2022. Before that, he worked at the Florence County Sheriff’s Office from July 2015 to October 2021, records obtained by News13 from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

Records show Bostick was fired from the sheriff’s office on Oct. 1, 2021, for “violation of agency policy.” There were no criminal charges or investigation after his firing.
