Top junior college tennis athletes from 12 states set to compete in Florence’s biggest sporting event yet

Florence, South Carolina – The City of Florence is gearing up to host a major sporting event, as it welcomes the 2025 NJCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship to the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center. This is a historic event for Florence since an NJCAA Championship will be held there for the first time, further enhancing the city’s already rising profile as a sports tourism destination.

Athletes from 12 states

Including 170 top-tier junior college athletes from 12 states, all competing for national recognition, the competition is set for May 12–16, 2025. Promising an exciting week of high-level competition, the tournament will have an intense lineup of matches spread over three doubles flights and six singles flights.

Florence’s premier tennis facility, the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center, is more than ready to host the event. With 24 asphalt courts, six Har-Tru clay courts, and a modern 5,000-square-foot activity center, the site offers a perfect environment for both visitors and players. The large outside decking will provide spectators with an amazing perspective of the action, therefore guaranteeing an intense tournament experience.

Florence to receive national recognition

City officials are embracing the championship as a chance to put Florence on the map in the collegiate tennis world.

“We’re excited to host this championship in Florence,” said Tim Wilson, Assistant Director of Parks, Recreation, and Sports Tourism. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase our facilities and bring athletes, coaches, and fans together from across the country.”

Apart from the events themselves, the tournament is supposed to boost the local economy since visiting teams, families, and tennis fans will fill nearby hotels, restaurants, and businesses. Organizing a national-level event such as this supports Florence’s dedication to make investments in sports tourism and offer first-rate facilities for big contests.
