City of Florence warns of possible temporary water pressure drops during annual fire hydrant testing

Florence, South Carolina – Set to start on March 1, 2025, the City of Florence Fire Department has revealed its yearly calendar for fire hydrant testing. Essential for keeping the city ready for firefighting and other emergencies, the testing is supposed to finish by May 1, 2025. This regular check guarantees that all hydrants run effectively and efficiently, therefore guaranteeing consistent water access in case of an emergency.

District 2 and 4 residents should expect flow testing, in which case hydrants’ water flow rate is measured. This test is essential for determining the volume of water available for not only firefighting but also for residential sprinkler systems and everyday domestic use.

Fire department staff members will conduct static pressure tests in other parts of the city, which evaluate water pressure without water flow. These tests are vital for assessing the constant readiness of the hydrants under non-use conditions.

The agency has created a map for citizens to quickly find their district of residence and know where testing will take place. Some residents could notice a short fall in water pressure as the testing is under way. The fire department guarantees strict monitoring and management of this will help to minimize any disruption.

Moreover, the City of Florence Fire Department has set policies to manage the possibility of water discoloration, which results from disturbance of iron and mineral deposits in the water lines during testing. Although discoloration may be obvious, residents are warned that is transient and not hazardous.

As the community implements this crucial preventive action, the fire department values its cooperation and patience. The preparation plan depends critically on every hydrant running as it should. It helps the department to properly handle fire crises, so safeguarding properties as well as people.

Residents who have questions or concerns regarding the testing process or who report major water supply problems are advised to get in touch with the City of Florence Fire Department at (843) 665-3231. The department is dedicated to provide quick updates and assistance everyone during the testing.
